Lacey Fire District 3 spends less than half the amount of comparable fire departments:

In a difficult economy, responsible budgeting is critical. Voting to Approve Proposition 1 simply renews the steady, long-term funding required for the basic emergency services our community needs.  We get our Fire and Emergency Medical Services at an extremely reasonable rate. This measure is to ensure we maintain our excellent service levels at such low rates.

Proposition 1 is not a new tax:

Approval of Proposition 1 is a restoration of the previously voter-approved rate. Lacey Fire District 3 asks for your approval in restoring the property tax levy rate to $1.50 per $1,000 of your property’s assessed valuation. Restoring the rate would have an impact of only $5.87 per month for a home valued at $220,000.

Approval of Proposition 1 is the responsible vote:

Lacey Fire District 3 uses revenue efficiently and must be able to budget and plan properly. To provide adequate emergency response, they need the basic funds to maintain expected service levels, keep equipment and buildings in good shape, and respond to increasing costs. Approval of this measure allows Lacey Fire District 3 to continue meeting taxpayer expectations by providing critical public safety services.
